Cannot communicate freely with others (either due to language or someone else communicating for them)
Is fearful or distrustful of authorities
Works excessively long hours
Shows signs of physical or emotional abuse

You might notice strange activity at an address near you. (NOTE – these are not strict guidelines but may be warning signs).
Many people coming and going at unusual times
Someone regularly coming to the address to pick people up and bring them back again
Regularly overflowing bins
Cannot see into any of the windows
Pungent smells coming from the property
Unusual noises
Forced Labour
Be aware that a trafficked person could work alongside someone who is not trafficked, particularly if they have been brought in by a third-party recruiter (the list below is not exhaustive):
Does not speak any or limited English
Place of accommodation is imposed and connected to employment
May seem fearful and undernourished
Does not have access to their own documents
Movement to and from is controlled by another
Acts if controlled by another
Does not receive any or full wages
May not have a contract or access to contract

Sexual Exploitation
Be aware that hotels, residential houses and flats are being used as brothels and places of forced sexual exploitation (the list below is not exhaustive):
A number of women living in a property smaller than you would expect
People being moved between locations on a regular basis (every month or so)
Movement controlled by another
No access to own ID or documents
Someone else collects the money for sexual services
